Hey there!

In this post, I’m gonna give y’all the actual reasons behind certain traditions that are followed around the world and mainly in India but most people don’t know why. Now without any further ado let’s get into it.

  • Stepping out during the eclipse can lead to ill effects on the body

The reason behind it: Looking at the sun during an eclipse will cause retinal blindness or scarring.

  • Do not sleep under trees during the night. Ghosts will haunt you.

Trees inhale carbon dioxide and release oxygen during the day but at night, the process is reversed. They (Except a few)  respire like any other normal living being. (O2 in and CO2 out) Thus sleeping under the trees can cause suffocation due to the large amount of CO2 released and the sound of rustling leaves on a silent night add to the creepiness.

  • Tying a lemon and a few chilies in a thread and hanging it out can deflect evil eye (Buri Nazar)

Actually, the smell released by them repels insects and hence the chances of diseases are lowered.

  • Eating sugar and curd before people head out to some good work gives you good luck

Curd instantly cools the system and sugar gives you a boost of glucose that in turn gives you energy.

  • One should not chew tulsi leaves but should swallow them.

Though Tulsi leaves have good properties the leaves’ outer layer has small traces of Arsenic. Chewing it can cause damage the teeth’s enamel.

  • After killing a snake, smash its head or else its kin will find your image in its eyes and take revenge.

A snake’s fangs contain venom even after the snake is dead and can cause death. Crushing its head can avoid this.

  • Coating a layer of cow dung is good for the house

Cow’s dung has anti-microbial properties and the smell wards off insects
